NextSongUp lets fans request songs and tip musicians during a live show. To do that, we need a small amount of information — here is exactly what we collect and what we do with it.
Who we are
NextSongUp is a live song request and tipping platform for gigging musicians. Fans use it to request songs, upvote requests, and send tips during a show. Artists use it to run the gig from their phone.
This policy explains what information the platform collects, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It covers the NextSongUp website, the artist and fan pages, and the NextSongUp mobile app.
Information we collect
We collect only the information needed to run the platform. What we hold depends on whether you are an artist, a fan, or just browsing.
- Account details
- If you create an account, we store your email address and name, plus the role on your account. Your password is handled by our authentication provider and is never visible to us.
- Artist profile and gig details
- Stage name, bio, photos, social and streaming links, your saved song catalog, setlists, chord charts, gig schedule, and notification preferences — including a mobile number if you turn on text alerts.
- Fan activity
- Song requests, dedications, upvotes, and a display name if you choose to give one. If you leave an email address, we keep it to send the post-gig thank-you or reminder you opted into.
- Payment information
- Card payments are processed by Stripe. We do not receive or store your full card number. If you save a card, we store only the Stripe reference plus the brand and last four digits so you can recognize it later.
- Device storage
- Fan pages use an anonymous key kept in your browser's local storage so your votes and requests are remembered on that device. Artists' in-app preferences, such as metronome sound, are also stored this way.
- Technical data
- Our hosting and payment providers record ordinary technical information such as IP address, browser type, and request timestamps to deliver the service and prevent abuse.
How we use information
We use your information to run the features you asked for: showing your requests and tips to the artist during the gig, keeping your queue position, paying out earnings, sending the emails and notifications you opted into, and helping fans find shows nearby.
We also use it to keep the platform working and safe — preventing fraudulent payments, investigating abuse, and fixing errors. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it to build advertising profiles.
What is public
Artist pages are public by design: your stage name, bio, photos, links, and upcoming gigs are visible to anyone with the link, and fans can request songs without an account.
During a live gig, approved requests, dedications, display names, and tip amounts can appear on the artist's screen, the fan page, and any band or TV view the artist shares. Do not put anything in a dedication or display name that you would not want the room to see.
Your choices
You can change or remove your profile details at any time in your account settings, and you can unsubscribe from any email using the link at the bottom of it.
You can delete your account from your account security settings. Deleting your account removes your profile and personal details from the platform. Some records are kept where we are required to: completed payment and payout records are retained for accounting and tax purposes, and records needed to resolve a dispute or enforce our terms may be kept until that matter is closed.
How long we keep information
We keep account and profile information while your account exists. Items you delete are removed from live use; deleted song requests and inquiries are permanently purged after a 90-day recovery window.
Aggregated gig statistics may be kept in a form that no longer identifies you.
Security
Traffic to the platform is encrypted in transit, access to stored data is limited to the systems and people that need it, and card details never pass through our servers. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password for your account.
Children
NextSongUp is intended for adults and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the platform handles personal information, we will update this page and revise the date above. Significant changes will be announced in the app.
